Juanita was the oldest of three children born to Gaby and Joe Flynn. She married the love of her life, Julian Dyrhood, on June 6, 1947 in Joplin, Missouri. They were married for 67 years, and had five children and eighteen grandchildren . . . and Juanita could correctly rattle off the birth dates of every one of them. She lived long enough to meet her 42nd great-grandchild, Georgia Lynn Porter.
Juanita and Julian lived for a short time in Joplin and then moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas. Their five children were born there and it is where they lived the rest of their lives. They were long-time members of St. Luke Lutheran Church. It was through their church, in the late 1970's, that they sponsored a Vietnamese family who had fled after the fall of Saigon.

Juanita died, after a brief illness, at the Methodist Village Nursing Home surrounded by loved ones. Her name will never be found in history books, but rather, her life is marked in the hearts of the many she loved.

A memorial service will be at noon on Friday, February 3, 2023 at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ft. Smith.
